Here are a few ideas I’d love someone to invent and produce:
An app that connects your drum key to your phone so when you inevitably drop it somewhere on the floor, usually under your snare and cymbal stands, it shows you exactly where it is with x-ray vision.
Self-tightening and self-tuning drum heads that maintain consistent tension and tuning for months.
A compact, portable drum practice pad drumset that mimics the feel and response of a full drum kit for practicing on the go that only weighs 3 pounds and fits into a case that can be carried with one hand.
Maybe I shouldn’t put my brilliant ideas out there into the universe without saying they are patent pending! Oh well…someone design these products and let me know if they actually work.
As any drummer can attest, the world of gigging is fraught with unique challenges that can make gigging a complicated affair. To address these issues, many drummers use their ingenuity to develop innovative solutions that make gig life easier and more enjoyable.
When faced with challenges, resourcefulness, creativity, and inventive solutions can make life easier for inventors; and in the end, their ideas benefit the entire community. Here are two drummers that were featured on Broadway Drumming 101 who have created two great inventions you should know about.
